Why should I join the Rainbow Club?
Member benefits include a newsletter, invitation to weekly dinners and monthly events, and reduced cost for our catered events. Also, as a Rainbow Club member you will always have priority to attend our club events over non-member guests.
Why is there a fee to join the Rainbow Club?
Like most clubs in Laguna Woods Village, the Rainbow Club charges an annual membership fee per person per calendar year, January 1 through December 31.
Rainbow Club membership dues pay for clubhouse rentals, insurance, food, prizes and supplies.
Can I attend club events without joining?
You can attend club events as a guest of a club member if there is available seating. Guests also pay a guest fee to attend social events and a higher fee to attend our catered dinners.
Can I attend your weekly dinners without joining the Rainbow Club?
Our weekly Wednesday dinners are an added benefit of club membership and open to club members only.
Due to the popularity and restaurant limitations on group size, members may not invite guests to our weekly dinners as they are able to do for our other social events.
Can I be added to your club mailing list?
Only members of The Rainbow Club are eligible to receive information via email.
I don't live in the Village year-round. Do you prorate the cost of membership?
We do not prorate our annual membership fee. While our club has faced recent increases of our room rental fees and liability insurance, we've still managed to maintain the same low cost for membership. Our annual $25 membership fee averages out to only $2.08 per month.
Do you share your club membership list or roster?
We do not share our membership information by default or with outside organizations wishing to target our community. Members may OPT-IN to have their contact information shared within the Rainbow Club by request.
How will you use my email address information?
Your email address will be used to communicate club related events or activities only.
Do I have to live in Laguna Woods Village to join the club?
Yes. Membership is available only to residents of Laguna Woods Village.
I don't live in Laguna Woods, can I attend Rainbow Club functions?
You may attend a club function as a guest of a club member and would be billed the appropriate guest fee for that specific event. The club member would also need to confirm seating availability and to arrange for gate clearance to the community.
How do I find out about club activities?
All Rainbow Club events are posted on this website under the Events tab. Members receive email communications for all club events and activities as well as a printable PDF listing event dates for the entire calendar year.
Does the club schedule trips or outings to museums or other attractions?
No. The Rainbow Club does not arrange or coordinate travel trips, theatrical shows, museums, or other outside attractions. Laguna Woods Village has numerous clubs that exist expressly for travel opportunities.
Does the club accept sponsorships?
The Rainbow Club is solely supported by membership dues and does not accept sponsorships.
Does the club schedule guest speakers?
During the early days of the club, speakers were scheduled to speak on a variety of topics of interest to the LGBT community. The club is now only social in nature, so we do not schedule guest speakers.
Additionally, per Golden Rain Foundation recreation policy, rentable rooms shall not be used to conduct a business, promote a product, or solicit for services.
With all the gains in LGBT equality, is there still a need for an LGBT club?
Yes. New residents to the Village have an instant way to connect and interact with others in the community. And many strong friendships have been formed through initial introductions at club events and dinners.
There's also no need to drive to another city to socialize since we meet right here in our own community.
